AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the absence of visible thread view counts, which has been replaced by a focus on "Likes." Participants express nostalgia for the view count feature, arguing it provided insight into a thread's relevance and popularity. The importance of thread titles and post quality is emphasized as key factors in determining a discussion's value. There is a recognition that while "Likes" reflect post quality, thread views could indicate broader interest and external traffic. Overall, the conversation highlights a tension between valuing community engagement and measuring popularity.

You're probably right but I miss the views tabulation.

Still think the title and the quality of the posts make a discussion worth reading. I might discover that a thread of 100 posts and 3700 views has little relevance for most readers. Likes? Well, it's about recognition of the quality of posts from the members. This matters a lot. But to the owner of this website the popularity/external traffic matters, too.

Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
