The Attempt at a Solution

I have no clue. By cutting the pieces, it changes the length. By cutting the cable at c and removing the 2 supports, wouldn't it make all the forces and moments = 0?

Regardless of what the subject line says, this is not a problem about shear force and bending moments. It is a problem about splitting up the mechanism in the diagram into a series of separate free body diagrams.

I urge the poster to follow the directions and then see if all forces and moments = 0.

It doesn't matter if the cuts change the length (which length?) The final result should be that all of the separate free bodies, after adding the necessary forces and moments, are in equilibrium.
