Dear forum,

I need some guidence on how to solve shear stress on a pin and the hole compression due to force load on the pin. I haven't provided number as I can work those out later, but simply I am asking for a step by step!

You should consider 3 modes of failure:

1) Bearing stress = pin diameter X plate thickness
2) Tensile failure = 2 X A1 X plate thickness
3) Pin push block out = 2 X d X plate thickness, where d = distance from hole edge to part edge.

I hope I have understood your sketch. Basically, you want to check all failure mode stress = Force / Area.
