AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around Sterre, the daughter of Dutch national hero Andre Kuipers, who is currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for six months. Sterre is noted for singing a popular Sinterklaas song, which is well-known among Dutch children, while receiving applause. There is curiosity about whether she will recognize that her song's melody is based on Mozart's Haffner serenade. The conversation also touches on the strong emotional reactions to her performance and the possibility that the video may be inaccessible outside the Netherlands, although it is available on YouTube.

Anyway it would be interesting to know if during her life time she would know that what she sang was on the melody of the menuetto of Mozart's Haffner serenade.

But there isn't a Dutch kid who would not know this Sinterklaas song.

Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
