Studying Studying Physics: Tips for Achieving Success

AI Thread Summary
Effective studying in physics requires a dual approach: understanding the material both mathematically and intuitively. A strong grasp of problem-solving is essential, as consistently working through physics problems enhances comprehension and reveals deeper insights into the subject. Engaging with the concepts actively, rather than passively reading, can lead to better retention and understanding, particularly in challenging areas like Newtonian physics. Emphasizing problem-solving skills and seeking to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications can significantly improve performance in physics.

hi

i would like to know for those who do well in physics how do you go about studying this subject? my usual approach to studying hasnt paid off and i got a below average mark in a physics test recently.

i do like physics and i spend much time reading the works of physicist and trying to learn more about the universe but its the Newtonian physics that keep getting to me.

There are 2 keys to understanding physics in my mind. One you must understand the material both mathematically and intunitively. How much is up to the way you understand problems. IF you consistanly solve problems in physics in that area you will not only better understand the material but it may show you parts of physics that can not be explained to be fully understand.

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
Yesterday, 9/5/2025, when I was surfing, I found an article The Schwarzschild solution contains three problems, which can be easily solved - Journal of King Saud University - Science ABUNDANCE ESTIMATION IN AN ARID ENVIRONMENT https://jksus.org/the-schwarzschild-solution-contains-three-problems-which-can-be-easily-solved/ that has the derivation of a line element as a corrected version of the Schwarzschild solution to Einstein’s field equation.
