SUMMARY

The discussion centers on calculating the point load exerted on a wall by a TV screen and its articulated bracket. The TV screen weighs 25 kg, while the bracket adds an additional 20 kg. When fully extended, the bracket positions the screen 700 mm from the wall. This information is crucial for determining the load distribution and ensuring proper wall support.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic physics principles, specifically moments and forces.
  • Familiarity with load calculations in structural engineering.
  • Knowledge of the mechanics of articulated brackets.
  • Ability to interpret diagrams related to load distribution.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the calculation of moments using the formula: Moment = Force x Distance.
  • Learn about the structural integrity requirements for mounting heavy objects on walls.
  • Explore different types of wall anchors suitable for mounting TVs.
  • Investigate the impact of leverage in load-bearing scenarios with extended brackets.
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for homeowners, DIY enthusiasts, and professionals involved in mounting televisions, as well as structural engineers assessing load-bearing capacities.

Hi all,

Can anyone help me with (what I think is) an equation relating to moment. I want to know what the point load will be on a wall with a TV screen and articulated bracket.

The screen weighs 25kg
The bracket weighs 20kg
The bracket puts the screen out at 700mm when fully extended

I hope this is all the info required!

Thanks in advance,
Nick

do you have a diagram of the arrangement?
