Undergraduate level research topic in physics

AI Thread Summary
A final-year BSc Physics student in India is seeking guidance on theoretical project topics to undertake before starting a postgraduate course. With a background in Quantum Mechanics and ongoing studies in Complex Analysis, the student is particularly interested in areas such as Matrix Mechanics, Hamiltonian dynamics, and aspects of Mathematical Physics like Matrix Theory and Harmonic Analysis. The aim is to approach local university professors with a well-defined project proposal. The student is looking for suggestions on undergraduate-level research topics that align with their knowledge and interests in these fields.

I am a Final year (3rd year) student studying BSc Physics in India. My undergraduate course is getting completed in one month. As I want to pursue my career in field of physics, I like to do a project especially a theoretical project (kind of writing a junior level thesis) before joining Postgraduate course. I will be having atleast two month free time. I am planning to approach professors in universities on my location, for that i have to be sure what i am proposed to do (project i am willing to do). Honestly to say I have no idea what to do. But I already done a reading project in Quantum mechanics for a month and presently i am learning Complex analysis(mathematical physics).
I have interest in these topics (1) Quantum mechanics (Matrix mechanics, Hamiltonian)
(2) Mathematical physics (Matrix theory (upto eigenvalues, eigenvectors, some linear algebra), harmonic analysis (upto Fourier transforms, Fourier series, etc)
Please Suggest me some Undergraduate level Research project topics that I can do and I acquired some knowledge through my undergraduate course on these topics i mentioned above.
Thank you in Advance

I am only in year 1 of my undergraduate degree, but as long as you know some maths you can contribute to really any project by doing the grunt work.

After a year of thought, I decided to adjust my ratio for applying the US/EU(+UK) schools. I mostly focused on the US schools before, but things are getting complex and I found out that Europe is also a good place to study. I found some institutes that have professors with similar interests. But gaining the information is much harder than US schools (like you have to contact professors in advance etc). For your information, I have B.S. in engineering (low GPA: 3.2/4.0) in Asia - one SCI...
Bit Britain-specific but I was wondering, what's the best path to take for A-Levels out of the following (I know Y10 seems a bit early to be thinking about A-levels, but my choice will impact what I do this year/ in y11) I (almost) definitely want to do physics at University - so keep that in mind... The subjects that I'm almost definitely going to take are Maths, Further Maths and Physics, and I'm taking a fast track programme which means that I'll be taking AS computer science at the end...
I graduated with a BSc in Physics in 2020. Since there were limited opportunities in my country (mostly teaching), I decided to improve my programming skills and began working in IT, first as a software engineer and later as a quality assurance engineer, where I’ve now spent about 3 years. While this career path has provided financial stability, I’ve realized that my excitement and passion aren’t really there, unlike what I felt when studying or doing research in physics. Working in IT...
