AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on the statistics displayed on the PF Forum, highlighting the number of members, guests, and robots visiting the site. Members are defined as logged-in users, while guests are visitors who have not signed up. Robots refer to search engines like Google and Bing that index content for search results. The difference between discussions and messages is clarified, with discussions equating to threads and messages to individual posts or replies. The conversation also touches on the humorous aspects of navigating the forum and references to the "about:robots" page in Firefox.

Dear PF Forum,
I just saw interesting windows at the bottom right corner of PF website.
Total 964(members: 39, guest:837, robots: 88)
That's a every interesting statistic. So when we post something and don't get answer immediately we'll know that at that moment PF Forum is a rather quiet, just a few members are online.
What are members? People who sign in?
What are quest? People who visit PF Forum but don't log in or sign up
Robots? What are they?

And another window

What is the difference between discussion and messages?
Is discussions = thread?
Is messages = post/reply to the thread?

Thanks.

Mainly search engines, looking for new content to add to their search index.

If I didn't know you better, I would think this is robot response.
Thanks.

Sorry, whose search engines?
PF's or others like Google, Bing, Altavista?

The forum search engine does not appear there, it does not need to "visit" the website as it has direct access to the database.
Yes, external search engines, Google, Bing and so on.

Wow. That's why when I tried to search some specific asnwer for my curiosity yesterday about kinetic energy in google. I was surprised that google gives me back my own post in PF 3 months ago.
Good luck PF Forum!

Something funny happens.
When I tried to click the click, PF forum shows this.
Page not found.jpg

Don't worry. I completely understand that. It's just that DaleSpam has merged that post (mine) with my other post.

It's not a protest. For a second I thought that there's an error. Then I remember that my post has already been moved.
Perhaps the robots haven't updated that particular entry, may be later.

Well, the first sentence is like Isaac Asimov three laws of robot.
The second and the third? I don't know. Isaac Kashdan perhaps?

Lol... it's from "The Day the Earth Stood Still "...

And...
In the Firefox web browser, the about:robots page is an Easter egg containing a small number of robot references, with the page title reading Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!

Anyway, lol... carry on.
