The discussion centers around the use of a specific drill with a grip designed for a portable drill press. Concerns are raised about the compatibility and safety of using cordless drills in a drill press, with suggestions that it may be impossible or dangerous. The recommendation is to invest in a cheap drill press, which is considered a better option than attempting to adapt a hand drill. The second-hand market for DIY machine tools is highlighted, particularly in the UK, where used drill presses are readily available. It is noted that using a hand drill mounted in a press is likely to be unsatisfactory and potentially unsafe.

This drill has a provision (the left hand end of the orange body) to grip it in a portable drill press.

But many cordless drills are built like this...

Would this fit into a drill press (I'm guessing it might be impossible or dangerous)? Alternatively, are there adapters that can help use it in a press?

Not what you asked, but...
Just buy a cheap drill press. Granted, in the drill press world they aren't the best, but they will still be MUCH better than your approach.

There is a vigorous second hand market in DIY level machine tools. I have many electrical hand tools and they are hardly worth selling or buying s/h but when you move up to drill presses and the like, eBay (in the UK) always has suitable stuff within driving distance. My theory is that elderly DIYers have moved up the skills order and will have bought tools that they never could afford when they were young. The old guys die and their partners just wants rid of a shed full of stuff.
A handdrill, in a mount will almost certainly be unsatisfactory - even unsafe.

4 step sequence: 1. 2 quarts boiling water down the sink or tub drain. Boiling: 220 deg. F., not just hot. Softens up the clog. Then add 2. 2 cups (16 ounces) Drano (gel or liquid, commercial drain opener). Wait one full hour to let it work. Then add 3. 2 cups (16 ounces) bleach down the drain. 'Double whammy'! Wait another hour for that brew to work. Then, finally, pour another 4. 2 quarts boiling water down the drain. Flush well after that. This has worked twice now for...
