What books should I consider as a reference for design engineering?

Click For Summary
Recommended reference books for design engineering include "Mark's Calculations for Machine Design" and "Machine Designer's Reference" by J. Marrs. Other notable suggestions are the "Mechanical Engineers' Handbook" and "Formulas for Stress and Strain" by Roarke. The focus is on finding concise resources without excessive extraneous information. Feedback on these titles and additional recommendations is encouraged for aspiring design engineers. Comprehensive references are essential for effective design engineering practice.

I am looking to be a design engineer and I was waning some recommendations on what books are good reference books for this. The two books that I have been able to find are Mark's Calculations For Machine Design and Machine Designers Reference by J. Marrs. If anyone knows anything about these or other books please give feedback or other books that might be better. If possible I would like a book that doesn't have too much extraneous information. Thank you.

Had my central air system checked when it sortta wasn't working. I guess I hadn't replaced the filter. Guy suggested I might want to get a UV filter accessory. He said it would "kill bugs and particulates". I know UV can kill the former, not sure how he thinks it's gonna murder the latter. Now I'm finding out there's more than one type of UV filter: one for the air flow and one for the coil. He was suggesting we might get one for the air flow, but now we'll have to change the bulb...
