    Max Planck Quote
AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around a quote attributed to Max Planck, mentioned during a meeting or convention involving notable scientists like Albert Einstein, possibly related to relativity. The specific quote being sought suggests that despite scientific theories, the meeting cannot extend in time, leading to its adjournment. Participants reference the Solvay Conference of 1927 as a significant event where such discussions took place. The conversation also includes an unrelated narrative that shifts focus away from the original inquiry about Planck's quote. The main objective remains to identify the exact wording of Planck's quote and the context of the meeting.

I am trying to remember a quote I once read by Max Planck. Max Planck, Albert Einstein, and other scientists were at a meeting or convention regarding relativity or some other scientific theory. Planck said something like "As the [some scientific theory] cannot extend the time for this meeting, this meeting is adjourned."

Does anyone know of the quote I am asking about?

What is the exact quote by Max Planck?

What was the meeting?

not sure of the quote but the solvay 1927 conference was very big.

This is a famous quote by Max Planck,

They were all dead. The final gunshot was an exclamation mark to everything that had led to this point. I released my finger from the trigger. And then it was over. To make any kind of sense of it, I need to go back three years. Back to the night the pain started.

Similar to the 2024 thread, here I start the 2025 thread. As always it is getting increasingly difficult to predict, so I will make a list based on other article predictions. You can also leave your prediction here. Here are the predictions of 2024 that did not make it: Peter Shor, David Deutsch and all the rest of the quantum computing community (various sources) Pablo Jarrillo Herrero, Allan McDonald and Rafi Bistritzer for magic angle in twisted graphene (various sources) Christoph...
Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
