What is the peak strength of the Electric Field

SUMMARY

The peak strength of the Electric Field in an electromagnetic wave can be calculated using the relationship between the rms strength of the magnetic field and the speed of light. Given a magnetic field (B) with an rms strength of 7.75 × 10−9T and a frequency of 80.0 kHz, the peak Electric Field (E) is determined by the formula E = c * Brms, where c is the speed of light (3.00 x 108 m/s). This results in a peak Electric Field strength of approximately 2.33 × 10−1 V/m.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of electromagnetic waves
  • Knowledge of the relationship between rms and peak values in sinusoidal functions
  • Familiarity with the speed of light (3.00 x 108 m/s)
  • Basic skills in physics calculations involving units of measurement
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the derivation of the relationship between rms and peak values in sinusoidal functions
  • Learn about electromagnetic wave properties and their equations
  • Explore the implications of frequency on electromagnetic wave behavior
  • Investigate applications of electromagnetic waves in technology
USEFUL FOR

Physics students, electrical engineers, and anyone interested in understanding electromagnetic wave properties and calculations.

In an EM wave traveling west, the B field oscillates vertically and has a frequency
of 80.0kHz and an rms strength of 7.75 × 10−9T. What is the peak strength of the Electric Field.

So I worked this problem and got it wrong earlier and am looking for explanation as to why.

To Solve this problem, you would multiply the rms strength by 3.00 x 10^8 m/s right?

Thanks!

What is the factor difference between peak of a sinusoid and the rms of a sinusoid in general?
