AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the differences between Republicans and Democrats, as well as the broader concepts of democracy and republic. Participants emphasize the importance of sharing personal views rather than relying on external sources for definitions. A key point raised is the distinction between political concepts and the two major U.S. parties, with some arguing that a republican democracy is preferable for national governance, while absolute democracies might be more suitable for local governments. The conversation also touches on the fact that not all republics function as democracies, citing examples like China and North Korea, which label themselves as "People's Republics." Overall, the thread encourages an exploration of political ideologies and their implications in governance.

Difference between republicans and democrats?
Just wanted to know what's your ideas are...

Do not say I am a democrat or a republican because your country is democrat or republic. This is a open forum and no one is going to arrest you for saying anything here.

Also tell me what comes up in yuor mind when you hear of the words "democracy" and "republic".

And last of all do not google the question and cut paste the answer.
I want to know your own views about it .

Not all republic's are democracy's
China and north korea call themselves "Peoples'' "republic"

I think a republican-demoracy is the best for national govements but I think absoloute demoracy's should be used for small local governments.

Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
