The discussion centers on obtaining free versions of PSpice and alternatives. PSpice, now under OrCAD, does not have a fully free version but offers a limited evaluation version, which can be found at specific URLs. LTSpice, also known as SwitcherCAD, is highlighted as a completely free alternative. Users can access LTSpice through its official website at Linear Technology.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of circuit simulation software
  • Familiarity with PSpice and LTSpice functionalities
  • Basic knowledge of electronic components and circuit design
  • Awareness of software evaluation versions and limitations
NEXT STEPS
  • Download and explore LTSpice from the official Linear Technology website
  • Access the free evaluation version of PSpice 8 from the provided URLs
  • Research the differences between PSpice and LTSpice for circuit simulation
  • Learn about OrCAD's integration with PSpice for advanced features

Here is the URL for the free evaluation version for Pspice 8. It's the one I like best. It limits the number of components you can have but I've found it adequate for most of my designs.

There's a downloadable demo of PSpice which is free on the official software website. It should contain everything you need. PSpice is under Orcad now, by the way. I couldn't get the URL to work.
