Where does dark energy come from

Not only have we accepted dark energy, but we have accepted that it is increasing with the expansion of the U , what AFAIK we have not accepted is where this energy comes from

So what are the latest ideas on this.

A cosmological constant is a very good candidate, some other fields are discussed I think.
