AI Thread Summary
Voyager 1, celebrating its 35th anniversary, is currently approximately 16.5 light-hours away from Earth, resulting in a round trip communication time of about 33 hours. This distance highlights the spacecraft's isolation in space, as it continues to explore regions beyond human reach. Despite its remoteness, communication remains possible, although delayed, prompting curiosity about its operational status and ability to receive commands.

I wonder how long does it take for a round trip communication with it these days?
(can we still tell it, "Hey, point your antenna over this way!" )

About 16.5 hours one-way for a signal to make it from Voyager to Earth. In other words, Voygaer is about 16.5 light-hours away.

Where is she now? Where no man has gone before.

Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
