AI Thread Summary
Galaxies often exhibit spiral shapes due to the uneven distribution of stars, forming distinct arms rather than a uniform disk. This phenomenon raises questions in astrophysics about the underlying mechanisms that create these structures. Theories suggest that gravitational interactions, density waves, and the rotation of galaxies contribute to the formation of spiral arms. Despite various hypotheses, the exact reasons remain an open question in the field. Understanding spiral galaxy formation continues to be a significant area of research in astrophysics.

why galaxies are having uneven distribution of stars, in the form of arms? actually stars should have been like a thin disk like distribution of stars.

TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Is there any sense in this or is blissful ignorance better? In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation.
