Why Does Our Perception of Time Change?

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the nature of time perception and its potential changes, particularly exploring whether relativity plays a role in this phenomenon. Participants examine the subjective aspects of time perception and its possible connections to brain function and fundamental laws of physics.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested, Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants propose that time perception changes continuously and question the role of relativity in this context.
  • Others argue that time perception is subjective and can be influenced by chemicals, suggesting that it is unrelated to the principles of relativity.
  • A participant suggests that the relativistic nature of time might also apply to different parts of the brain that perceive time, likening these parts to observers in relativity.
  • Another participant challenges speculative claims about the relationship between time perception and relativity, stating that discussions should be based on published studies in peer-reviewed journals.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing views on the relationship between time perception and relativity, with no consensus reached on the validity of speculative connections between the two concepts.

Contextual Notes

The discussion includes speculative ideas that lack empirical support, and there are calls for reliance on peer-reviewed research to substantiate claims made regarding time perception and relativity.

Why time perception changes continuously...?
Could relativity be playing some role?

I think you completely misunderstand what relativity means in physics. Time perception i subjective and can be altered with chemicals. This has nothing to do with relativity.

I know relativity...
But I think just like relativistic nature of time for different observers it may be true for parts of our brains that perceive time... I mean what if u consider each of these parts as observers...
After all subjective experiences also must emerge from fundamental laws...

We do not allow speculation of this nature. Unless you have studies published in acceptable peer reviewed journals on this subject, we cannot allow a discussion on it. You may send me the studies you have so I can review them. and decide if the thread can be re-opened.
