In summary, the conversation discusses the perception of lying and stealing in society and questions why it is considered bad. It suggests that being good at lying and stealing can lead to success, and suggests teaching children these skills. However, the other person in the conversation argues that in their circles, honesty, charity, and service are valued and dishonesty is frowned upon. They also question the validity of the idea that lying and cheating can lead to success.

Seriously, there are so many examples of people who have robbed and swindled their way to the top, and if you are rich enough and get caught it will probably be a slap on the wrist for you. We are taught very young that stealing and lying is just bad, but why? You could become president if you are a good enough liar, why not teach our kids to lie and steal better than everyone else and not get caught? Maybe it's only bad if you get caught but if you can get good at lying and stealing then it's good. Just a thought.

That is not true or valid in the circles that I am part of. Honesty, charity, and service are valued, and dishonesty is viewed very badly. What scenarios are you holding up as shining examples of how lies and cheating are good things?

I cannot condone or support the act of stealing or lying. These actions go against ethical and moral principles and can have serious consequences for both the individual and society as a whole. While it may seem like a shortcut to success, the long-term effects of engaging in such behavior can be damaging and detrimental.

Firstly, from a psychological perspective, stealing and lying can lead to feelings of guilt, shame, and low self-worth. These negative emotions can have a significant impact on an individual's mental health and well-being. In addition, repeated lying and stealing can also desensitize an individual to the consequences of their actions, leading to a lack of empathy and disregard for others.

Furthermore, from a societal standpoint, stealing and lying can erode trust and create a culture of dishonesty. This can have far-reaching effects on relationships, businesses, and institutions. It can also lead to a breakdown of law and order, as individuals may feel justified in breaking rules and laws if they believe it will benefit them.

Additionally, the idea that lying and stealing can lead to success is a misconception. While there may be a few examples of individuals who have gained wealth and power through dishonest means, the majority of successful individuals have achieved their success through hard work, determination, and ethical practices.

In conclusion, as a scientist, I believe in promoting and upholding ethical and moral principles. Stealing and lying may seem like a shortcut to success, but the long-term consequences can be damaging to both the individual and society. It is important to teach our children the value of honesty and integrity, as these qualities are essential for a healthy and functioning society.
