AI Thread Summary
The Earth is experiencing a slowdown primarily in its rotation rate due to tidal friction with the moon, resulting in longer days. This phenomenon means that the number of days in a year will gradually decrease. Additionally, the Earth's distance from the sun is increasing, which affects the length of the year, although this change occurs at a slower rate. The wobble of the Earth's axis is not a significant factor in this discussion. Overall, the slowing down of the Earth encompasses both its rotation and its orbital dynamics.

How is the Earth "slowing down"

I herd the Earth is slowing down...
Dose that meen the speed of its rotation is slowing? Is its orbit around the sun slowing? Or is it the speed of its wobble on the axis is slowing? or is it all 3?

Mostly the rotation rate is slowing down due to tidal friction with the moon - the day is getting longer and there will be fewer days in the year
The distance from the sun and so the length of the year is also increasing, but more slowly

Publication: Redox-driven mineral and organic associations in Jezero Crater, Mars Article: NASA Says Mars Rover Discovered Potential Biosignature Last Year Press conference The ~100 authors don't find a good way this could have formed without life, but also can't rule it out. Now that they have shared their findings with the larger community someone else might find an explanation - or maybe it was actually made by life.
TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Is there any sense in this or is blissful ignorance better? In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation.
