Finding the Best Physics Textbook for 11th-12th Grade & College

In summary, when selecting a physics textbook for 11th-12th grade and college, it is important to consider the level of difficulty, relevance to the current curriculum, and the inclusion of interactive learning tools. Both well-known and lesser-known publishers can produce high-quality textbooks, but it is important to research the reputation and qualifications of the publisher and authors. Clear and relevant visuals can greatly enhance understanding, so look for textbooks with illustrations and diagrams. While cost should be considered, it should not be the only factor in decision-making. It is also recommended to use additional resources, such as online lectures and practice problems, to supplement learning and deepen understanding.

Hello,

Can someone please recommend me a physics textbook that will cover everything from grade 11-12 AP or IB and also undergraduate physics?

The book that I am thinking of right now is "Fundamentals of Physics 9th Edition" by Halliday.
If there are any books that are better than this one, please tell me.

Thank you.

A book that I personally like is "University Physics with Modern Physics" by Young and Freedman. Might be worth checking out. It uses calculus, don't know if you've taken it yet or have any familiarity with it.

Question 1: What should I look for in a physics textbook for 11th-12th grade and college?

When looking for a physics textbook for 11th-12th grade and college, it is important to consider the level of difficulty, relevance to the current curriculum, and the inclusion of interactive learning tools such as simulations or practice problems.

Question 2: Is it better to choose a textbook from a well-known publisher or a lesser-known publisher?

Both well-known and lesser-known publishers can produce high-quality physics textbooks. It is important to research the reputation and reviews of the publisher, as well as the qualifications and experience of the textbook's authors.

Question 3: Should I choose a textbook with a lot of illustrations and diagrams?

Illustrations and diagrams can greatly enhance understanding and retention of physics concepts. Look for textbooks with clear and relevant visuals that aid in explaining key concepts.

Question 4: What about the cost of the textbook?

The cost of a textbook should be considered, but it should not be the only factor in your decision. It is important to choose a textbook that is comprehensive and well-suited to your learning style, even if it may be slightly more expensive.

Question 5: Can I rely solely on the textbook or should I use additional resources?

While a good textbook can provide a solid foundation, it is recommended to use additional resources such as online lectures, practice problems, and study guides to supplement your learning and deepen your understanding of physics concepts.
