Graduate Kronecker function products - matrix format
Hi Thanks very much for the response You have also reminded me about this whole notion of 3 dimensions and 1s sitting on the diagonal that is not sitting well with me. Firstly, in all honesty, I am not even sure whether this whole thing is regarded as 3 dimension or whatever number of...- hermish

Graduate Kronecker function products - matrix format
Hi all, Firstly, I am not sure whether this is the area of the forum to ask this. I have been learning and researching a completely different topic, and from this I have come across a completely new concept of the Kronecker function. I have done a google search on this to get the intro and...- hermish

Continuity Equation - For a vertical pipe
I don't understand the ideas behind the continuity equation when applied to a vertical pipe. In all the questions I see regarding a vertical pipe of constant diameter, I see that the fluid's velocity will remain constant while traveling through the pipe. Common sense will tell you this isn't...- hermish

Separation of variables - Laplace's Equation
Homework Statement Use separation of variables to find the solution to Laplaces equation satisfying the boundary conditions u(x,0)=0 (0<x<2) u(x,1)=0 (0<x<2) u(0,y)=0 (0<y<1) u(2,y)= asin2πy(0<y<1) The Attempt at a Solution I am able to perform the separation of variables...- hermish

Confusion on sign convention for surface integrals
I still don't understand though. If I used Stoke's theorem and applied the line integral there will be a fixed answer, using the right hand rule, defining your normal either way will get you the same answer, can't be either positive or negative. However when you apply the surface integral it...- hermish

Confusion on sign convention for surface integrals
Homework Statement Compute the surface integral for F = [3x^2, y^22, 0] and S being a portion of the plane r(u,v)=[u,v,2u+3v], 0≤u≤2, −1≤v≤1.The Attempt at a Solution I managed to get the correct answer, because with some luck I defined the normal in the correct direction. I am just confused...- hermish
