Hey, so I am just working on a second year Analytical Mechanics
Hey, so I am just working on a second year Analytical Mechanics assignment, and right now dealing with oscillations. I have two questions I am stumped on and don't know if I have it right. It is probably basic, but just checking. 6. The frequency fd of a damped oscillator is 100 Hz, and the...- Johnson

Help with question relating to long jumps Unsolvable by math teacher
I agree with gneill, this is a very basic question. I don't understand how high school math or physics teachers can't get this, or even your parents if theyre engineers. Attempt it and I'll give you a hand if you need it.- Johnson

Finding total time of a running rabbit
1.5x + 0.6y = 1200(0.8) Hopefully that helps. If you don't understand where I got that from or what to do from here, let me know.- Johnson

Looking for an interesting Neuroscience article
Just bored and looking for some new (<2 years ago) articles people find interesting. If anyone knows of any diseases that may be caused by neurological disorders which isn't proven yet, for example diabetes, they'd be a good start. Cheers- Johnson

Rectilinear motion of a particle
A particle of mass m moves without friction subject to a force F(x) = −kx + \frac{kx3}{A2}, where k and A are positive constants. It is projected from x = 0 to the positive x direction with initial velocity v0 = A\sqrt{\frac{k}{2m}}. Find: (a) the potential energy V (x), (b) the kinetic...- Johnson

Quick question with spherical coordinates and vectors
So here's the question: An ant crawls on the surface of a ball of radius b in such a manner that the ants motion is given in spherical coordinates by the equations: r = b, \phi = \omegat and \vartheta = \pi / 2 [1 + \frac{1}{4} cos (4\omegat). Find the speed as a function at time t and the...- Johnson

Undergrad Calculating Ascent Rate and Peak Altitude of a High Altitude Balloon
Hey thespaceman, I actually have some experience with weather balloons, so thought I'd post what I know. Give consideration that this is taken from practical experiments personally and not from literature. Your first question about ascent change with regards to altitude. It should not change... -

Help Needed: Finding Components of Particle Velocity
6.60 -micro C particle moves through a region of space where an electric field of magnitude 1200 N/C points in the positive x direction and a magnetic field of magnitude 1.01T points in the positive Z direction if the net force acting on the particle is 6.23 x 10^-3 N in the positive x...- Johnson

High School What Is Anti-Matter and How Does It Interact With Matter?
Probably a dumb question, but I have never had it explained to me. I was just wondering if someone would be able to tell me what anti-matter is, from basics, how it is formed and how it interacts with normal matter. -Johnson- Johnson

Undergrad Physics Misconception: Roller Coaster Equation
This is the same as a centrifuge. Spins everything around and around at high speeds, heavier masses going more vertical, lower mass sinking to the bottom. This is from the centrifugal force giving off a greater force than that of gravity. I think that's right anyways.
