How Can I Improve My Math Grades from B's to A's?
I try extremely hard in my math classes, and I do decently in them, but I would really like to do better. I got a B in calc I, B+ in calc II and III, and a B in discrete math, and at this point it's looking like I will get a B or B- (or maybe even a C+) in linear algebra. I always do a lot...- kinof

How Is EMF Induced in a Loop Within a Solenoid?
Homework Statement A small loop with area 6.8 mm^2 is placed in a long solenoid with 854 turns/cm and a sinusoidally varying current w/ amplitude 1.28 A and angular frequency of 212 rad/s. What is the amplitude of the emf induced in the loop? Homework Equations \textbf{B}=\mu_0 in \Phi_B...- kinof

Particle in an Electric and Magnetic Field
Homework Statement An electron has an initial velocity with an x component of zero, a y component of 12.4 km/s, a z component 13.5 km/s, and a constant acceleration of 2.68 x 1012 m/s2 in the positive x direction in a region in which uniform electric and magnetic fields are present. If the...- kinof

How Do You Calculate Work Done by a Variable Force Along a Displacement?
Since the force is varying, you need to find the work along each differential portion of distance between x=3 and x=5. Think about the definition of work, and apply that.- kinof

Semi-infinite non-conducting rod
Oh, woops. I got $$\frac{k\lambda}{R}$$ for both. Of course the ratio of these is 1, so the angle is 45 degrees. Thanks.- kinof

Semi-infinite non-conducting rod
Homework Statement A "semi-infinite" nonconducting rod has a uniform linear charge density λ. Show that the electric field E at point P a distance R above one end of the rod makes an angle of 45° with the rod and that this result is independent of the distance R. Homework Equations...- kinof

Maximizing Study Time: Tips for Nailing Science Exams in High School
I've never taken a serious biology class before, but I know that for physics and math you really just need to do a ton of problems. I've seen lots of people try to sell special techniques and "hacks," and these can work, but if you haven't done the work you can't truly expect to know the material.- kinof

Calculating acceleration in X and y direction
First, remember that Fnet is a vector, so you have to consider both the horizontal and vertical components that make up the net force, and the 22.8 degree angle you have is going to affect the magnitude of your components. Hopefully this helps, and don't forget to make an FBD.- kinof

Proving "3f ≤ 2e" for Planar Graphs
Homework Statement Prove that for a simple, connected, planar graph, 3f ≤ 2e where f = faces and e = edges The Attempt at a Solution My professor went over this in class, and mentioned something about "double counting," which I do not really understand. I tried saying that it takes 2...- kinof

Calc III and diff equations or LA
This summer I plan on taking calc II at my local community college, and next semester I will definitely be taking calc III, intro to computer science, and probably a science course (physics I or chemistry). This leaves a spot open for a math course (I am planning on majoring in math), which will...- kinof

Programs Double majoring in all but name
Double majoring "in all but name" Hello! I am a college freshman enrolled in a non-math/science major, yet I intend with certainty to switch majors next year. My interests range pretty much across all of STEM, but I am leaning most heavily towards mathematics and computer science. I am strongly...- kinof
