Is 'Fuzzy' logic an appropiate Quantum logic ?

This is an interesting idea. Have you heard of relational quantum mechanics? It basically proposes a similar idea (http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/qm-relational/#Mermin"). But Isham and Butterfield proposed that Intuitionistic Logic could be used as a quantum logic in their paper "Some...

Programs Getting a BS in Math or Physics: Advice for a UC Davis Freshman

All right, I'm a first year freshman at UC Davis, and I can graduate in three years with a BS in math, or five years with a BS in physics (taking a number of math courses), or possibly 6 years with a BS in math and in physics. I want to go into quantum gravity and foundational issues in...

Curl of a Div of a Green's Function

Okey Dokey, so I'm bored and decided to play around with some math. I've got a problem that I can't figure out now; I have the green's function for the laplacian G(\vec{x}, \vec{x'}) = - \frac{1}{4\pi |\vec{x} - \vec{x'}|} There are no boundary conditions. Is there any lazy way to figure out...

Working out a Second Class Constraint in Gory detail?

Well, I think I've got it figured out now, thanks anyways.

What is the predicted de Broglie wavelength of a bullet traveling at 1060 m/s?

Yeah, hence it becomes 3.9 times 10^-2 kilograms.

What is the predicted de Broglie wavelength of a bullet traveling at 1060 m/s?

Huh, I'd start by solving for the momentum (3.9 * 10^-2 kg)(1.060 * 10^3 m/s) = 4.134 *10 kg*m/s, then I would recall that p = h/wavelength and solve for the wavelength. It should be a really big number (of the order 10^34 in the mks system). Good luck.

Working out a Second Class Constraint in Gory detail?

Hello, I've been fooling around with some equations, and I've managed to land a second class constraint (I don't know whether to laugh or cry). Well, I was wondering is there any good introduction to the subject? The problem I have is that I made the conjugate momentum a function of...
