Particle in a well, can someone explain how this step works

Homework Statement:: A particle with mass m is effected by potential V(x) = ∞ when x<0, -V0 when 0<x<a, 0 when x>a A) Set up a relation from which the energy for bounded states can de determined B) For which values V0 does the particle have only one bounded state? Homework Equations...

Finite quantum well, multiple choice question

The least amount of energy it can have is h^2/8mL^2, right? Is all the energy kinetic energy? Is that the answer?

Is My Quantum Well Probability Calculation Correct?

Thank you! My mistake seems to have been when doing the integral, and I wrote cos instead of sin in the final expression. But I think I'm getting the correct answer now.

Finite quantum well, multiple choice question

Homework Statement:: Consider an electron trapped in a one-dimensional finite well of width L. What is the minimum possible kinetic energy of the electron? A) 0 B) Between 0 and h^2/8mL^2 C) ≈h^2/8mL^2, but it is not possible to find the exact value because of the uncertainty principle D)...

Is My Quantum Well Probability Calculation Correct?

Using 2/L*int(sin^2(2pi*x/L))dx (from L/3 to 2L/3) I got that it is 1/3 (with 2/L=abs(A)^2 and 2=n). Is it possible for Δ to be 0, or am I still doing something wrong somewhere?

Is My Quantum Well Probability Calculation Correct?

Thanks for your reply. I think I might have done some calculating mistake when I was doing the final step, and that it should instead be 0.33333... or 1/3. Is this the correct answer, or were you referring to something else as being wrong?

Is My Quantum Well Probability Calculation Correct?

Homework Statement:: An electron is in state n=2 in an infinite quantum well with width L. What is the probability to find the electron if you measure within the well's central third? Can someone cofirm whether or not my solution is correct Homework Equations:: Y=Asin(n*pi*x/L) I use the wave...

Quantum tunneling: T(E) graph for a potential barrier diagram

Hello BvU. Thank you for your reply. Sorry for not giving any equations, I was thinking that this problem is meant to be solved with reasoning at what happens at different potential barriers, instead of calculations. But the equations i have with T depending on E are T=exp(-2a*√(2m(V0-E)/h^2))...

Quantum tunneling: T(E) graph for a potential barrier diagram

This is the V(x) diagrams and what I am thinking (really not sure though) is that for the first one you the energy has to reach V2 before it can start transmitting and the graph can take off from T=0, since there is an increase in energy potential that is V2. And as the energy increases, the...
