AI Thread Summary
Users are experiencing layout issues with Gmail and National Geographic when using the Avant browser, with existing forum solutions proving ineffective or unclear. In contrast, the same web pages load correctly in other browsers like Opera and Firefox, even on machines running Windows XP with Avast antivirus. It has been confirmed that the problem lies specifically with the Avant browser, as opening Gmail in Orca, a related browser, does not present the same issues. The Avant development team has acknowledged and corrected the problem.

There is a problem in Avant when getting the web page for gmail. The layout is screwed up. A similar problem holds for National Geographic. Avant forum responses for fixing either don't work or are too obscure to interpret. Has anyone found the correct fix??

I use Opera and Firefox browsers on three different XP machines, and I haven't encountered any problem with GMail. I've had Avast running on all the machines for several years.
How did you determine Avast is the cause?

I am talking about Avant (a browser), not Avast (anti-virus) code.

To see that it is Avant, I can open gmail with another browser (such as Orca, a sister of Avant) and it will open properly. Similarly for National Geographic.

Avant people finally corrected it.

Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
