AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the gender dynamics in biosciences, noting that many programs are majority-female, as exemplified by a master's class with 20 females and 4 males. There is speculation about the receptiveness of bioscience students to physics students, suggesting that attraction is more about personal appeal than academic background. The conversation humorously touches on the social habits of bioscience grad students, implying they socialize in common public spaces. The tone remains light-hearted, with jokes about desperation in dating contexts. Overall, the dialogue reflects on the potential for connections between male physics students and female bioscience students.

are most of the biosciences majority-female? and are a lot of them receptive to physics students? (seeing that many have to study long hours and some of them get pretty desperate?). Heh, where do they often hang out? Maybe bioscience grad students are some of the best potential partners for male physics/astrophysics grad students. :p

In my friend's master's class, most of the students were female, like 20 females and 4 males in the class. I guess they would hang out where everyone else hangs out...

Sorry to break your bubble, but they ain't receptive to physics students, they are receptive to potential mates they find attractive. That may include *some* physics students.

Just ONCE, I wanted to see a post titled Status Update that was not a blatant, annoying spam post by a new member. So here it is. Today was a good day here in Northern Wisconsin. Fall colors are here, no mosquitos, no deer flies, and mild temperature, so my morning run was unusually nice. Only two meetings today, and both went well. The deer that was road killed just down the road two weeks ago is now fully decomposed, so no more smell. Somebody has a spike buck skull for their...
