Circuit Connection: Meaning of VEE to 50k Resistor

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the circuit connection involving VEE and a 50k resistor, identified as a potentiometer used for voltage adjustment. The potentiometer typically connects one end to ground, the other to the supply, with the middle pin linked to the circuit. In this context, it serves to either adjust to VEE -8V or create a voltage divider for scaling purposes. Additional circuit details would enhance understanding of its functionality.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of circuit components, specifically potentiometers
  • Knowledge of voltage levels and adjustments in electronic circuits
  • Familiarity with basic circuit schematics and symbols
  • Experience with voltage dividers and scaling techniques
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the function and application of potentiometers in electronic circuits
  • Learn about voltage divider circuits and their practical uses
  • Explore circuit analysis techniques for better understanding of circuit functionality
  • Investigate the implications of using VEE in various electronic applications
USEFUL FOR

Electronics enthusiasts, circuit designers, and students studying electrical engineering who seek to understand the role of potentiometers and voltage adjustments in circuit design.

Can anyone tell me what the following circuit connection means? It's the arrow going from VEE to the 50k resistor. Thanks.

that resistor is probably just a potentiometer. voltage adjust.
typically; 1 end goes to gnd, 1 end goes to the supply, middle goes to circuit. in this case, it either is adjusting to get VEE -8V or using VEE -8V to get some form of divider or voltage scale to somewhere else

maybe I'm wrong,

I agree with edmondng. If you post more of the circuit, we could tell you more about the functionality, but from what you've posted, it's a potentiometer.
