UFO Sightings and Planet X: Is There a Connection?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around the concept of Planet X and its potential connection to UFO sightings. The initial poster speculates that if the ancient Sumerians were correct about Planet X, its proximity to Earth could explain a surge in UFO sightings over the past few decades, suggesting that inhabitants of this planet might be visiting. However, other participants challenge this notion, arguing that the Sumerians did not have credible knowledge about such a planet and dismiss the idea as a fabrication by individuals seeking fame. They emphasize that discussions about unexplained astronomical phenomena should be based on evidence rather than fringe theories. The conversation also touches on recent discoveries of distant celestial bodies, but these are differentiated from the speculative nature of Planet X discussions. Overall, the thread highlights skepticism towards the claims surrounding Planet X and UFOs, advocating for a more evidence-based approach to astronomical inquiries.

As usual, I don't know if this is the right place, but, I have been thinking, and if samarians ( if that's spelt right ) were right about planet x, then it should be near us soon in a few years or a few decades, now, if this is true, wouldn't that explain that if the ufo sightings are true, that theyre were a outburst of ufos a few decades ago and have been constantly ever since because planet x's inhabitants got within short travel distance of Earth at that time? I don't know if that makes sense to you but iono, it would explain it for me. I don't know.

Well if the above isn't in the right place I have a video that is, please tell me what you think, I think these guys are telling the truth. By the way I am 14 so if possible soft treatment please ;]

No, there really isn't anything to that stuff. The Sumerians didn't "know" or even claim to know what is being said they knew. It was all made up by a crackpot trying to become famous: http://www.sitchiniswrong.com/

Btw, that link of yours just leads to a tv listing.

Here's what we have so far for a "10th planet" (reverberating keyboard music please!)

Remember Planet X, that small planet just past Pluto used as a topic in old science fiction movies and cartoons? Well now that fictional planet is a reality! No, not that weird military base or whatever, this is the real thing! This Texas-sized planet is black as coal, and has an orbit more then double the length of Pluto's. Scientists believe that it was formed in the Oort Cloud, then was pulled into orbit around the Sun. Could there be other planets like this one in our galaxy? In our solar system? We can only guess.

Here's another candidate:

Is it "Planet X"?
Well, probably not, but a team of astronomers has discovered a distant icy body larger than Pluto, long regarded as the ninth planet of the solar system. Like Pluto, this new discovery (which as of yet has the boring name of "2003 UB313") belongs to the Kuiper Belt, a collection of icy remains from the formation of the Solar System.

Further info about this "icy body"

Literally Planet X, especially if you use Roman numerals, NASA scientists have discovered a 10th planet in our solar system.
The planet, larger than Pluto, was discovered using the Samuel Oschin Telescope at Palomar Observatory near San Diego, Calif. The discovery was announced today by planetary scientist Dr. Mike Brown of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, Calif., whose research is partly funded by NASA.

Sorry, I only got to the title screen before I had to go vomit. I'll try to watch more later (that's a pretty famous crackpotumentary and I've never watched it before...) Greer is a flying saucer crackpot though, not an ancient knowledge crackpot. The two conspiracy theories have nothing to do with each other.

We consider potentially unexplained phenomena here, not fringe theories.

If there were unexplained discrepancies in the observed orbits of the planets, that would be a qualified discussion here or in the Astronomy forum. But the planet X business is a "theory" in search of evidence - any evidence. That's a dead give-away that it is not worth consideration. Also note that a tenth planet in itself is not the limit of Sitchen's claims, so these are really two different discussions.

Similar to the 2024 thread, here I start the 2025 thread. As always it is getting increasingly difficult to predict, so I will make a list based on other article predictions. You can also leave your prediction here. Here are the predictions of 2024 that did not make it: Peter Shor, David Deutsch and all the rest of the quantum computing community (various sources) Pablo Jarrillo Herrero, Allan McDonald and Rafi Bistritzer for magic angle in twisted graphene (various sources) Christoph...
Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
