Is there any formula to calculate the effect gravity has on time

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the formula for calculating the effect of gravity on time, specifically using the equation T = T0 / √(1 - (2GM/Rc²)). In this formula, G represents the gravitational constant, M is the mass, c is the speed of light, T is the time interval measured far from the mass, and T0 is the time interval measured at a distance R from the mass. Participants express curiosity about experimenting with this concept. The formula illustrates how gravity influences time dilation, a key aspect of general relativity. Understanding this relationship can lead to deeper insights into the nature of time and gravity.

just curious..
want to do some fiddling around with it

Try this one:
T = \frac{T_0}{\sqrt{1-\frac{2GM}{Rc^2}}}
G is the gravitational constant, M is a mass, c is speed of light, T is a time interval measured far away from the mass, and T0 is the time interval measured by a clock at distance R from the mass.

Thank you i will..

Is a homemade radio telescope realistic? There seems to be a confluence of multiple technologies that makes the situation better than when I was a wee lad: software-defined radio (SDR), the easy availability of satellite dishes, surveillance drives, and fast CPUs. Let's take a step back - it is trivial to see the sun in radio. An old analog TV, a set of "rabbit ears" antenna, and you're good to go. Point the antenna at the sun (i.e. the ears are perpendicular to it) and there is...
