AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the characterization of biodiesel samples made from pumpkin oil, specifically focusing on determining their optical properties, including the refractive index (RI) and the use of Raman spectroscopy. It is confirmed that Raman spectroscopy can be used for characterization, but it is noted that determining the refractive index cannot be achieved with a Raman instrument. The conversation emphasizes the importance of identifying suitable methods for analyzing the optical properties of biodiesel.

i have made biodiesel from pumpkin oil and samples of B10 B20,...,B100. i want to get optical properties of these samples.what should be these poperties?i want to determine refractive index and also want to use raman spectroscopy.can i do this??can i use raman?

Of course you may characterize it by Raman. I don't believe you can determine the RI with a Raman instrument, though.

I want to test a humidity sensor with one or more saturated salt solutions. The table salt that I have on hand contains one of two anticaking agents, calcium silicate or sodium aluminosilicate. Will the presence of either of these additives (or iodine for that matter) significantly affect the equilibrium humidity? I searched and all the how-to-do-it guides did not address this question. One research paper I found reported that at 1.5% w/w calcium silicate increased the deliquescent point by...
