    Balance Bus
AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around a scene from a Hindi movie where a bus hangs off a cliff, prompting the hero to instruct passengers to disembark slowly for balance. The rationale behind this advice is questioned, particularly regarding the safety of the older couple at the back and the lack of clarity on the bus's balance dynamics. It is suggested that if the rear passengers disembarked first, it would enhance stability rather than the proposed method. The need for a clearer understanding of the bus's positioning is emphasized, as it impacts the safety of the disembarkation process. Overall, the scene raises questions about the logic of the hero's instructions and the implications for passenger safety.

i saw a hindi movie that had an end scene with a bus with a few passengers involved in a mishap and end up hanging out of a cliff.

the hero tells everyone to move the frnt slowly ... which made sense - in the end there is an old couple at the back and the ladys frozen with fear.

so he asks everyone to slowly disembark ... giving some reason ... that did not make sense -he & his wife speak to the old lady and finally make her walk .

if they gave the reason to make the others disembark then it might have made some sense but he says something about balance which did not make any sense to me. also if he was really bothered about the older couple keeping the others on till they crossed over to the front would be safer - right?

It would help if we knew which end of the bus was hanging off the cliff. I assume the rear, and that the rear passengers walked to the front where they disembarked through the front door onto the ground. The balance of the bus would become safer if the rear-most passengers moved first. The woman remaining in the rear seat would not create a balance problem if more people had departed from the rear than from the front.

Hi all, I have a question. So from the derivation of the Isentropic process relationship PV^gamma = constant, there is a step dW = PdV, which can only be said for quasi-equilibrium (or reversible) processes. As such I believe PV^gamma = constant (and the family of equations) should not be applicable to just adiabatic processes? Ie, it should be applicable only for adiabatic + reversible = isentropic processes? However, I've seen couple of online notes/books, and...
I have an engine that uses a dry sump oiling system. The oil collection pan has three AN fittings to use for scavenging. Two of the fittings are approximately on the same level, the third is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch higher than the other two. The system ran for years with no problem using a three stage pump (one pressure and two scavenge stages). The two scavenge stages were connected at times to any two of the three AN fittings on the tank. Recently I tried an upgrade to a four stage pump...
