SUMMARY

The discussion centers on finding alternatives to Ogata's "Modern Control Engineering" for understanding frequency domain analysis in system dynamics. Participants recommend Mac Dorf's "Modern Control Systems" as a more accessible resource. While Ogata is noted for its readability, Dorf's work is highlighted as a valuable supplementary text for those struggling with abstract concepts in vibrations.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of frequency domain analysis
  • Familiarity with system dynamics concepts
  • Basic knowledge of control engineering principles
  • Experience with academic texts in engineering
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore Mac Dorf's "Modern Control Systems" for practical insights
  • Review Ogata's "Modern Control Engineering" for foundational knowledge
  • Investigate additional resources on frequency domain analysis techniques
  • Study comparative reviews of control engineering textbooks
USEFUL FOR

Students, educators, and professionals in control engineering and system dynamics seeking clearer explanations and alternative resources to Ogata's work.

Because the section on frequency domain analysis (vibrations) is hurting my brain...
Are there any alternatives to this book that may be a little less abstract?

Thanks,
Mac

Dorf is another good resource which has come in handy for me. Although for most things... Ogata seems to be the most readable.

Dorf, RC, Modern Control Systems, Addison-Wesley.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Joppy, I appreciate the reply. I will take a look at it.
