Best book?

  1. Jan 7, 2010 #1
Hi. Im clueless about engineering, but I want to build a workout bench and workout equipment. What would be the best book to get for load information and structural integrity. Would this be considered mechanical engineering or material? I have no idea thanks for your help!

Look for something that discusses "statics" to find out how to calculate what your loads are.

Also take a good look at commercial examples of the type of equipment you want to make. If it is just simple stuff like a bench for doing presses, try to copy what you see in the gym.
