For GRE study, particularly using iPhone apps, users recommend tools that facilitate learning on the go, such as flashcard applications. Anki is highlighted as a top choice due to its use of spaced repetition, which helps reinforce memory retention over time. The discussion acknowledges concerns about distractions from notifications and social media when using phones for studying, but emphasizes the convenience of apps for quick, effective learning, especially in transit. Overall, the focus is on finding efficient, user-friendly apps that support vocabulary and formula memorization without the need for extensive physical materials.

Hello,

I’m starting my GRE study soon and would like to know what you guys recommend for GRE study, specifically iPhone apps.

I don’t plan on taking exams on the phone, but I would like something that I can use to cram into long term memory while I am on the bus every day. Anything that you guys use to help with vocabulary, formulas, etc etc?

If youre looking for a flash card app, Anki is really good. Uses spaced repetition to give you the cards over different periods of time. Very customizable cards too.

However, before I get onto ultrafast optics I need to improve my electrodynamics knowledge. Should I study Jackson or Zangwill for Electrodynamics? My level at the moment is Griffiths. Given my interest in ultrafast optics in condensed matter, I am not sure which book is better suited for me. If...
