Have you actually ever driven in snow? There is no way you benefit from locking the wheels in snow.

The snow builds a barrier in front of the wheels. The more snow in front of the wheels the bigger the barrier, the bigger the barrier the slower the car travels. ABS doesnt alloow the barrier to be built up therefore it increases the stopping distance quite significantly.
