AI Thread Summary
Calculating the diffusion rate of PFA in a 1% agar gel requires understanding the gel's properties and the diffusion equation. The thickness of the gel is 2 mm, and the time for diffusion can vary based on concentration and temperature. Relevant literature on diffusion in gels can provide insights and methodologies for accurate measurement. Researchers suggest consulting articles on Fick's laws of diffusion and experimental setups for similar substances. Understanding these principles will aid in estimating the diffusion time for PFA effectively.

Hi:

I am doing a research project in which I need to diffuse PFA(Paraformaldehyde) into agar gel. I want to know how to calculate the diffusion rate. The agar gel is 1%, and 2 mm thickness. How long approximately does it take for PFA to diffuse from the top to the bottom?

Is there any article that I can read about?

Thanks

Umm... this is *your* research project, right?

What do you propose to measure?

I need to measure the diffusion rate of PFA in 1% agar gel.
