Calculating the Number of Ways to Answer True-False Exam Questions

AI Thread Summary
A true-false exam with 10 questions has significantly more than 20 possible answer combinations. Each question has two options (True or False), leading to a total of 2^10, which equals 1,024 different ways to answer the exam. The initial claim that there are only 20 ways to answer is incorrect. Understanding the calculation method is essential for determining the correct number of combinations. Accurate calculation is crucial for solving such problems in elementary statistics.

Think of it this way - if there is 1 question, you can answer T or F. If there are two questions, you can answer TT, TF, FT, or FF. So how many ways can you answer if there are 20 questions?

That is an absurd statement. You aren't supposed to just guess. You need to know how to calculate the number of ways to fill in the answers to determine whether the answer is true or false.

The Attempt at a Solution

I believe this is false, for there is never a set way to answer questions.

This isn't a religion question about beliefs. Calculate the number of ways and answer the question with confidence about your answer.
