AI Thread Summary
Climatologists are addressing the alarming decline in global glaciers, which have decreased by over 50% in the last 40 years, by securing funding to explore the concept of breeding glaciers in captivity. NOAA's chief glacier behaviorist, Ingrid Boorstein, emphasizes the urgency of improving glacial fertility to prevent extinction. The discussion also touches on the potential unintended consequences of such efforts, including humorous concerns about glaciers causing chaos in urban areas and impacting other markets, such as llamas. The conversation reflects a mix of serious environmental concerns and satirical commentary on the feasibility and implications of breeding glaciers.

Climatologists Secure Funding To Breed Glaciers In Captivity

...As the number of glaciers worldwide is less than half what it was 40 years ago, it is evident that we must do something to improve glacial fertility or they will face imminent extinction," said NOAA chief glacier behaviorist Ingrid Boorstein [continued]

I'm not familiar with the finer points of glacial fertility, but it sounds interesting. And I hear that glacial breeding is already threatening the llama markets.

The fools, they know not what havoc will be wrought! Can you imagine glaciers running rampant down city streets, attacking your kids? And the decay of their corpses will only worsen the dihydrogen oxide pollution of our rivers and streams!
