I would like to know if I can send some data as an SMS from my mobile phone to a website. The website receives my SMS and send suitable instructions as SMS to my friend's mobile. Is this possible?

I don't think so that it is possible...I guess you should need to have any services activate and than you can get this..Without any effort it is not possible..
