Can You Help with the Egg Drop Challenge?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around strategies for a physics project known as the Egg Drop Challenge, where participants must protect a raw egg from breaking using limited materials: five sheets of computer paper and one meter of masking tape. Suggestions include creating a parachute from the paper and ensuring the egg is wrapped in paper to avoid direct contact with the tape. Participants emphasize the importance of reducing impact time to minimize force, with ideas like incorporating a crumple zone for added protection. The challenge involves testing the design from varying heights, starting at one meter and potentially increasing to higher drops. Overall, the focus is on innovative uses of the materials to successfully safeguard the egg during the drop.

EGG DROP! woohoo!

Hello all!
I have been getting frustrated with this certain physics project...
the materials are as follows:
5 sheets of computer paper
1 meter of masking tape
1 raw egg

THAT'S IT!

any ideas on how to make the egg survive? parachutes? baskets?

i know you have to decrease the time of impact so the force will be smaller, but how do you go about doing that with only 5 SHEETS OF PAPER?!

rar!
thanks for your help!

maybe you could make a parachute out of the sheets of paper and use masking tape to attach the egg to the parachute

oh yeah minor detail i forgot...
the sticky part of the tape can't touch the egg

u could wrap the egg in a sheet of paper and then do as i said in the post before

how far do u have to drop the egg?

first 1 meter, then 2, then from the top of the stairwell...
and you have to be able to get the egg quickly in and out of the contraption, so it can be checked for cracks..

Make a crumple zone and gamble :P My friend did it and survived 2 tests :P
