B Challenging the Existence of Black Holes: A Critical Analysis of Recent Research

AI Thread Summary
Recent discussions question the existence of black holes, with observations of the Milky Way's center suggesting a massive object with the mass of millions of stars confined to a small area, pointing to black holes as the only plausible explanation. Research indicates that similar massive black holes are found at the centers of other galaxies as well. The conversation invites scrutiny of a specific paper challenging black hole existence, prompting participants to consider alternative theories. Despite skepticism, the prevailing evidence continues to support the existence of black holes in astrophysics. The debate remains active, highlighting the complexity of understanding these cosmic phenomena.

Hey guys,

Does black holes exist? Is it even real?

Well, observations of the Milky Way's black hole require that something with the mass of millions of stars exist within an area of space smaller than a few dozen AU. The only plausible candidate for such a massive and dense object is a black hole.

Observations on all galaxies seem to lead to the same conclusion (massive black hole at center).

comparing a flat solar panel of area 2π r² and a hemisphere of the same area, the hemispherical solar panel would only occupy the area π r² of while the flat panel would occupy an entire 2π r² of land. wouldn't the hemispherical version have the same area of panel exposed to the sun, occupy less land space and can therefore increase the number of panels one land can have fitted? this would increase the power output proportionally as well. when I searched it up I wasn't satisfied with...
