The discussion focuses on circuit projects involving electric motors, with an emphasis on gaining hands-on experience in both analog and digital circuits. Recommendations include building an H-Bridge for controlling motors, which allows for advanced features like speed monitoring and temperature shut-offs. Resources for hobby circuit projects were shared, including links to manufacturers of H-Bridges that provide additional theoretical insights. The importance of incorporating pulse width modulation (PWM) for control is highlighted. Overall, the conversation encourages practical engagement with circuit design and motor control.

I have taken Analog Circuits and will take Digital this semester.
I am looking to get at some interesting circuit projects that would perhaps include electric motors.
I want more hands on experience with circuits. Any book recommendations?

Build yourself an H-Bridge? Analog-like control with a digital signal (assuming you can do pulse width modulation--PWM). The beauty of an H-Bridge is that you can always add more bells and whistles (speed monitoring, finer grain control, temperature shut-offs, stuff to protect MOSFETs, etc.)

At some point, you might get one of these:

BTW, another manufacturer of H-Bridges with probably more theory than you need to start with (see information and/or servicing)

Thread 'I thought it was only Amazon that sold unsafe junk'
I grabbed an under cabinet LED light today at a big box store. Nothing special. 18 inches in length and made to plug several lights together. Here is a pic of the power cord: The drawing on the box led me to believe that it would accept a standard IEC cord which surprised me. But it's a variation of it. I didn't try it, but I would assume you could plug a standard IEC cord into this and have a double male cord AKA suicide cord. And to boot, it's likely going to reverse the hot and...
