Condensation in vacuum container

AI Thread Summary
Condensation in a vacuum-sealed lens can blur vision, especially if moisture is trapped inside. Using rice or silica gel is a common suggestion for drying out moisture, but it may require drilling a hole in the lens body to insert these drying agents. Simply placing the lens in a dry environment may not be sufficient to eliminate the condensation. Drilling a hole could allow for better airflow and evaporation of the trapped moisture. Addressing the condensation issue is crucial for optimal lens performance.

Hi,

I'm building a lens and stupidly rinsed one component before putting the lens body together with epoxy glue. Now when I leave the lens in the sun the trace of water left in the vacuumed lens body turns into condensation and blurs out the vision. I've seen loads of forums suggesting using rice or silica to dry it out, will this work for me? Or will I need to drill a hole in the lens body to air it out again?

thanks
Ian

any help would be greatly appreciated

Wouldn't you have to drill a hole to put the silica/rice in as well?
