What is the Appropriate Term for the Contacting Surface on a Valve in the U.S.?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on identifying the correct term for the contacting surface on a valve in the U.S. The user describes a joint between the valve body and bonnet, highlighting the sealing surface that resembles an annulus. Suggested translations from Russian include "sealing girdle" or "sealing band," but the user is seeking a commonly accepted term in English. "Seal face" is proposed as a potential term, which seems to resonate with the participants. The consensus leans towards "seal face" as the most appropriate terminology.

Contact surface -- term

Hello everyone!
Help me please with selecting a correct term.
The situation is as follows:

There is a valve, which has a body and a bonnet.
There is a joint that connects the body to the bonnet.
There is a contacting surface on the bonnet flange and body flange that is used for sealing the inner cavity of the valve.
This surface looks like an annulus, or a ring and we have the area, inner diameter and outer diameter of it.
If translated from Russian it may sound as "sealing girdle", or "Sealing band".
Could it be "seal face"?

Could you please name the term that is used in the U.S.?
Hope, I made myself clear.

Thank you!

Hi all, i have some questions about the tesla turbine: is a tesla turbine more efficient than a steam engine or a stirling engine ? about the discs of the tesla turbine warping because of the high speed rotations; does running the engine on a lower speed solve that or will the discs warp anyway after time ? what is the difference in efficiency between the tesla turbine running at high speed and running it at a lower speed ( as fast as possible but low enough to not warp de discs) and: i...

Is that knob that I drew a red circle around my meter...
