AI Thread Summary
When choosing between Baldor and Leeson motors for a single HP, 1725 RPM, three-phase, TEFC motor in a 56C frame size, users emphasize the importance of intended use, particularly for general-purpose applications. Concerns about the reliability of online suppliers are noted, especially when considering unfamiliar vendors. The discussion highlights a preference for Baldor motors, but some users suggest evaluating both brands based on specific needs and availability. Ultimately, the decision may hinge on factors like performance, price, and shipping options. Seeking advice from experienced users can provide valuable insights for making the final choice.

hi people,

Im getting a motor but can't decide between baldor or leeson so Id figure I might try to ask

here:
Single HP
1725 or 1800 RPM
Three Phase
TEFC preferred
56C frame size

Is just one of the brand names preferred with a smaller motor? III be shipping this to my place back home, when I go back so Id most likely order online.

Thanks!

Welcome to PF!

It would help if you talked more about its intended use and how you came to decide on Baldor or Leeson.

Thanks jedishrfu,Actually, I need a general purpose motor, that would be universal in my garage.

Im going to buy it online - there's nothing in 1800 RPM, its going to be 1725 RPM and I guess Ill pick it up from this place today (but I've never heard of them, so I am a bit nervous)

Thread 'Physics of Stretch: What pressure does a band apply on a cylinder?'
Scenario 1 (figure 1) A continuous loop of elastic material is stretched around two metal bars. The top bar is attached to a load cell that reads force. The lower bar can be moved downwards to stretch the elastic material. The lower bar is moved downwards until the two bars are 1190mm apart, stretching the elastic material. The bars are 5mm thick, so the total internal loop length is 1200mm (1190mm + 5mm + 5mm). At this level of stretch, the load cell reads 45N tensile force. Key numbers...
I'm trying to decide what size and type of galvanized steel I need for 2 cantilever extensions. The cantilever is 5 ft. The space between the two cantilever arms is a 17 ft Gap the center 7 ft of the 17 ft Gap we'll need to Bear approximately 17,000 lb spread evenly from the front of the cantilever to the back of the cantilever over 5 ft. I will put support beams across these cantilever arms to support the load evenly
