In summary, the conversation discusses the concept of time being affected by mass and how different parts of our body may experience time differently. There is a debate about whether we simultaneously live in the past and future, but it is agreed that different parts of our body may experience a different present. Ultimately, this topic does not meet the criteria for starting a thread in the forum and the rules should be read.

Hi all,

According to laws of science, a very heavy body (having a lot of mass) slows time due to its gravitation. So, near Earth time is moving slow in comparison to things that are at a distance from it. Now, only for philosophical purpose I want to contend that our feet are in a different time as compared to our head ( i know that the difference would be infinitely small and impossible to measure, even after great scientific advancement). So, do we simultaneously live in past as well as future?

I would say that different parts of our body experience the passage of time differently, rather than saying that one part is in the past and one part is in the future. However, you could say that different parts of our body experience a different present, since simultaneity is relative.

Related to Do we live in Past as well as Future at the same time?

1. What is the concept of living in the past and future at the same time?

The concept of living in the past and future at the same time is known as the theory of time being a fourth dimension. It suggests that all moments in time exist simultaneously and we are moving through it like we move through space.

2. How is this theory supported by science?

This theory is supported by the theory of relativity, which states that time is relative to the observer and can be affected by factors such as gravity and velocity. It also aligns with the concept of quantum entanglement, where particles can be connected across vast distances and time.

3. Can we physically travel to the past or future?

At this point, there is no scientific evidence or technology that supports physical time travel. However, some scientists believe that it may be possible in the future through advanced technology or the manipulation of space-time.

4. How does our perception of time fit into this theory?

Our perception of time is based on our individual consciousness and experiences. This theory suggests that our perception of time may be limited and that all moments exist simultaneously, but we can only experience them one at a time.

5. What are the implications of this theory on our understanding of the universe?

If this theory is true, it could change our understanding of the universe and how we perceive time. It may also open up new possibilities for exploring the past and future and could potentially lead to a better understanding of the nature of reality.
