If the Earth had no orbital speed the pull of gravity would pull it directly into the sun.

No rotation would not directly affect the orbit of the Earth but each day and each night would be 6 months long! I don't think you are referring to the problems that would occur as a result of whatever force cause the Earth to stop rotating!

If the Earth and the sun had no gravitational attraction for each other, the Earth would continue in a straight line away from the sun. Thing would get pretty cold!
