AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on finding efficient and cost-effective methods for cooling and regulating the temperature of approximately 2 liters of water. The user is exploring thermoelectric coolers and seeks advice on waterproofing solutions, although they question the necessity of waterproofing since the setup shouldn't get wet. Additionally, participants are prompted to suggest better alternatives for cooling, considering factors like cooling requirements, inlet and outlet temperatures, flow rate, and load wattage. The conversation emphasizes the importance of understanding the cooling needs and the method of cooling the thermoelectric cooler itself. Overall, the thread aims to gather practical insights for effective water cooling solutions.

Hello PF,

I'm working on a little project where I would like to chill and regulate the temperature of water. I'm looking for a fairly cheap way to keep approximately 2 liters of water somewhat cold. I've been looking at some thermoelectric coolers and stumbled across https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002UQQ3Q2/?tag=pfamazon01-20 on amazon.

Three questions:

What would be a good way about water proofing these?

It's possible that there are better alternatives to cooling water. Can you think of one?

How much cooling do you need? Inlet and outlet temperature and flow rate of the water and wattage of the load. And how do you plan to cool the TEC?

I'm not sure the point of waterproofing though; it shouldn't be getting wet.

Thread 'How can I find the cleanout for my building drain?'
I am a long distance truck driver, but I recently completed a plumbing program with Stratford Career Institute. In the chapter of my textbook Repairing DWV Systems, the author says that if there is a clog in the building drain, one can clear out the clog by using a snake augur or maybe some other type of tool into the cleanout for the building drain. The author said that the cleanout for the building drain is usually near the stack. I live in a duplex townhouse. Just out of curiosity, I...
